Fire Roasted Burgers

We love the flavor of fire roasted canned tomatoes, so we thought we would try them on a burger...


What you will need...
  • 1 lb of lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 can of fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 beer (you won't use much of it so pick one you like!)
  • Worcestershire
  • salt and pepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 onion, diced fine
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsps olive oil
  • hot sauce (optional)
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.  In a sauce pan over medium heat, saute the garlic, onion, and a dash of red pepper flakes in olive oil unitl the onion is soft.  Add the fire roasted tomatoes, generous amount of salt and pepper, a dash of hot sauce (or as much as you like), a dash of Worcestershire, and a dash of the beer.  Allow to cook uncovered, stirring occassionally.  Combine beef, a dash of the beer (now you can drink the rest), a dash of Worcestershire, salt and pepper, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.  Form 4 burger patties.  Cook burgers 5 to 8 minutes on each side.  Top with the fire roasted tomatoes...YUM-OLA!!!

Sides to think about...great with mashed red potatoes (with the skin of course!) and green beans.

How many people can eat...should feed 4 (but you can make smaller patties if you like and have enough sides to feed 6).
