Bunless Beef & Black Bean Burgers

Yes I am loving that I found out adding beans to burgers is not only kind to your grocery budget, but it is very filling and tastes fabulous!  These burgers have great flavor...

What you will need...
  • 1 lb ground lean beef
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained (note:  the more beans you add, the harder it is to get the patties to stay together...don't use more than a can!)
  • 3 tbsps olive oil (1 1/2 tbsps is for the pan)
  • 2 tsps garlic powder
  • 3 tbsps spicy brown mustard (1 tbsp to brush the burgers)
  • 1 tbsp burger seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • salt and pepper
In a bowl, combine the beans, 1 1/2 tbsps olive oil, garlic powder, 2 tbsps spicy mustard, burger seasoning, and Worcestershire.  Mash pretty good with a potato masher and then mash in the beef.  Add a splash of water.  Season with some salt and pepper.  Pat out into 8 burger patties (because you are using beans, the patties won't shrink down much).  Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.  Brush one side of the burgers with mustard and place that side down first into the pan.  Cook about 6 to 8 minutes  (if you flip too early, they will not stick together well).  Brush the other side with mustard before flipping.  Cook another 6 to 8 minutes. So good and filling that you don't need a bun...YUM-OLA!!!

How many people can eat...depends on how hungry you are:)...makes 8 burgers.
