Kickin' Turkey and Bean Burgers

In an attempt to stretch a dollar, I did a spin off of a Rachel Ray recipe...these burgers are very filling, budget friendly, easy, and yummy!  Only takes 20 minutes to cook dinner!

What you will need...

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 3 tsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp McCormick Montreal Chicken seasoning
  • hot sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salsa
  • diced jalopenos
  • pepper jack cheese slices
In a bowl mix the turkey, beans, cumin, chili powder, seasoning, a splash of hot sauce, salt and pepper.  Use a potato masher to mash and mix all ingredients.  Pour 1 tbsp olive oil into a pan over medium-high heat, and use a paper towel to coat the pan evenly with oil.  Pat out 6 burgers.  When oil is hot, place burgers in the pan and cook 8 minutes on each side.  If you are like us and love heat, I topped each of the ones we were eating with a spoonful of salsa, a few diced jalopenos, and pepper jack cheese the last 2 to 3 minutes in the pan...YUM-OLA!!!  And, with 6 burgers, you may end up with leftovers:)

Sides to think about...great with red potatoes (just cook them in the microwave to save time), and green beans (buy the frozen bag and steam them on the stove).

How many people can eat...makes 6 burgers, so I am guessing 6.

  1. Neeley, Made your Turkey and Bean Burgers. They were wonderful. I didn't have some of the ingredients on hand but hopefully will next time. Can't wait to try the sloppy joes. All your recipes sound great and healthy too. You should post some of your cupcake recipes. The pictures of them are lovely.

  2. Ana - So glad you like the burgers! I thought about posting some of my cupcake recipes, but decided against it, as you never know...someday I might get to bake them for the world:) But I do hope you find the other recipes to be as easy, healthy, and yummy as Jeff and I! Thanks so much:)
